Cherie Hunchak
"Sole Deo Gloria." To God Alone Be The Glory.

Since 1982, Cherie Hunchak has been immersed in Borzoi.
Somewhat to her bemusement, she has bred under three different kennel names. Her first litter was bred in 1989 under the prefix of "Alarik" - part of her first borzoi's registered name. From '89 - '94, she was partnered with Ken Cook of Swiftess Borzoi, and co-bred under that prefix, producing such dogs as MBISS AmCanCH. Swiftess Romantic Egotist, JC, TT, and MBISS AmCanCH. Swiftess Kishniga Arafura, BIF FChX, AmCanCD.
Her breeding program gained its focus and has continued since then under "Elance" (Ay LAHN Say) - a ballet term that reflects Cherie's view of how the Borzoi and the ballet dancer are so alike: both divinely graceful, with controlled power, and incredible athleticism. Cherie herself been an active student of ballet since 2004.
"I am a breeder who exhibits," she states, "with the emphasis on breeding animals that are well-knit, balanced athletes". Her focus is building strong, line-bred pedigrees that will enhance and strengthen the breed for generations to come, as well as inspiring this passion in others. How does she stay impartial? "By loving no one dog more than the breed."
Cherie is a mother of two, a part-time Registered Dental Hygienist, and a whole heart follower of Christ. She lives with her family and dogs in the area of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Life Member of the Canadian Kennel Club, Borzoi Canada, and Borzoi Club of America.
